The Blues Project
The Blues Project was formed in 1965 in Greenwich Village, New York City. Their songs drew from a wide array of musical styles. The Blues Project is most remembered as one of the most artful practitioners of pop music, influenced as it was by folk, blues, rhythm & blues, and jazz. The group is led by co-founder and original drummer, Roy Blumenfeld.
Blumenfeld was a childhood friend of guitarist Danny Kalb, and a member of the Danny Kalb Quartet along with guitarist Artie Traum, and Andy Kulberg on bass. Later in 1965, Steve Katz replaced Traum on guitar and the group added singer Tommy Flanders, and changed its name to the Blues Project. At the end of 1965, Al Kooper was invited to join the group. In 1967 the Blues Project performed at the Monterey International Pop Festival in Monterey, California. They also performed at The Newport Jazz Festival in Newport, Rhode Island.

Watermelon Slim

2x Winner: 2006 & 2007 MOJO Magazine’s #1 Blues Album of the Year
Winner: 6th Annual Independent Music Awards Blues Album of the Year
An ever-expanding career of ramshackle grandeur. Bill “Watermelon Slim” Homans has built a remarkable reputation with his raw, impassioned intensity. HARP Magazine wrote “From sizzling slide guitar…to nitty-gritty harp blowing…to a gruff, resonating Okie twang, Slim delivers acutely personal workingman blues with both hands on the wheel of life, a bottle of hooch in his pocket, and the Bible on the passenger seat.” Paste Magazine writes “He’s one hell of a bottleneck guitarist, and he’s got that cry in his voice that only the greatest singers in the genre have had before him.”

Today Steve still enjoys playing occasional shows and telling stories of his rock n roll years. "At the time, I loved what I was doing but never had the sense that this was going to be the future and I was going to be a star... I never thought of music that way. Brown Sugar
Rolling Stones Tribute
Brown Sugar/Rolling Stones Tribute is a high energy and powerfully entertaining Philly based Rolling Stones Tribute Band formed in 1994 by singer Keith Souder and drummer Michael Mosley, two of the original members.
The band has largely been local until 2013 when they brought in Paul Donovin on guitar, and subsequently connected with the Shidoobees who are an organization of worldwide Stones Super fans. Soon after the band brought in vocalist/entertainer extraordinaire Pauline Houston Mcall, (2015) then later that same year added bassist Kelvin Weston and lead guitarist John Marchiano.
After joining forces the band took off and gathered more notoriety in the tri-state area. The most recent addition to the lineup in 2020 is Keyboardist Ed Artz, a veteran of the Philly music scene who brings great leadership, keys, and strong vocals. This has become the definitive lineup that will power Brown Sugar to new heights!

The Cash Box Kings
2023 Blues Blast Magazine Winner- Best Band And Best Percussionist
The Cash Box Kings, according to Living Blues magazine, “are one of the best blues bands in the land.” The group, co-led by real-deal Chicago blues vocalist and songwriter Oscar “Mr. 43rd Street” Wilson,
and Madison, Wisconsin-based songwriter, harmonica giant and singer Joe Nosek, plays masterfully raw, unvarnished, old-school ensemble blues. Wilson’s huge, emotive vocals and Nosek’s blistering harmonica
fuel their razor-sharp original songs and always incisive reinvention of obscure blues classics. AllMusic says The Cash Box Kings offer up “an enthusiastic celebration of Chicago blues in all of its electric forms...
funny and smart...slow grooves and hyper-charged shuffles. The Cash Box Kings don’t merely pay homage to the past, they bring tradition into the present [and deliver] a rollicking good time.”

The Nighthawks
In April of 2022 VizzTone released the Nighthawks album "Established 1972" which represents 50 years of Washington DC’s road warriors going strong.
On this landmark anniversary, founder, lead singer and harpmaster Mark Wenner is still at the helm, while drummer Mark Stutso, guitarist Dan Hovey and bassist Paul Pisciotta all share vocals and songwriting, making this lineup one of the strongest ever. Decades of gigs and countless rabid fans have earned them the name “The Best Bar Band In The World.” More than a bar band or blues band, as they’re frequently labeled, this is a band that played with Carl Perkins in addition to Muddy Waters.
Produced by the Nighthawks and longtime compadre David Earl, in 2020 they took advantage of the pandemic slowdown to hunker down in Earl’s Severn Sound Studios in Annapolis, Maryland and crank out fourteen new tracks in classic Nighthawks style combining Memphis grooves with the perfect touch of funk.
In the tradition they set forth on Rock and Roll, the band’s debut 1974 recording and mission statement, the material is not bound by genre other than the widest range of American Roots Music.
